As everyone knows Election Day is around the corner in two weeks. This Election will basically mark history. People are hoping the person they are looking forward will win, but there only can be one president. Many people are endorsing their favorite. This article is called Donation Record as Colin Powell Endorses Obama by Jeff Zeleny. On Sunday the former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell decided to endorse Senator Barack Obama. Colin Powell is a republican that directed the first Iraq War. Barack Obama decided to visit the states that George W. Bush won which are Colorado, Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Iowa, Virginia, and New Mexico. Mc Cain is trying so much to expand his electoral map as much as his protecting his states you will never know anything unexpected can occur. The weird part of this situation is that Colin Powell is a very good friend of Mc Cain and Powell has helped him a lot through his campaign by donating money to the campaign. Powell called Obama a “transformational figure” on the news in NBC. Will just have to see till next year for our new president. The author of the article point was just to prove with the election so close you won’t know what will you expect and you will have to see.

There was this interesting article called Gas prices sinking toward $2.90 mark By Ben Rooney a staff writer on CNNMoney.com written on October 20, 2008. Like everyone knows our economy is one of our main concerns besides the Iraq War and other things that are going on our country. Well a great thing that happened in the economy that concerned many consumers was gas. Either way with gas being so high people had to find a way to save trips, carpool, and bike, use public transportation, or just spend big bills to fill up your tank. From July gas was $4.11 and now gas is around $2.90 that means gas went down thirty percent. Right now Alaska has the highest gas price of $3.88 and Oklahoma with the cheapest gas of $2.48.Hopefully gas stays like this for quite a while and people should consider filling up there tanks while supplies last. The author just proved a point to describe the economy right now with gas prices and supplies. Also to advice this great opportunity to help consumers save a couple of dollars.

This weekend on the news there was a story about a kid that was kidnapped in Nevada. The article is called Kidnapped boy's grandfather arrested in Riverside by Anna Gorman and Ashley Powers on the Los Angeles Time Newspaper. Sadly the boy was kidnapped on Wednesday in Las Vegas. The boys name is Cole Puffinburger age six. Cole’s Grandfather Clemons Fred Tinnemeyer was captured and arrested on Friday night in Riverside. Sadly the boy wasn’t found but the news is perhaps the boy was kidnapped by two or three Hispanic men dressed as police officers. The problem was probably because Cole’s grandfather stole millions from Hispanic meth dealers. They captured the boy by tying up the little boy’s mom and boyfriend. Sadly they got away and they are still looking for the little boy and are starting to get to the bottom of this. Right now the only thing is to try and keep hope and hopefully the boy will be found soon.

The wildfires in California are devastating many residents. The article is called 1 killed in Los Angeles-area wildfire I found it on CNN. It’s really sad with this going on many residents are losing their homes practically everything they have. What the firefighters are requesting the residents to do is to flee the area. The fire started on October 13, 2008 early Monday in Los Angeles which burned 3,500 acres of the Angles National Forest and with the help of the Santa Ana winds it even made it worst. Unfortunately one person was killed and they are guessing it was a man which they weren’t able to figure out anything about him but they say perhaps he was a homeless person. This wild fires are really dangerous and are hurting many residents in California many are losing there houses completely too losing loved ones. They won’t be gone with the dry area and wind. The author proved the point to warn people about these wildfires and how they are hurting residents. He proved his point right especially since I’m from California and I know how harmful they were even though it never affected my area but I understand those people how they feel.

I read a really interesting article talking about how kids react towards artificial food. The article is called Do food dyes affect kids' behavior? by Robert Lachman on the Los Angeles Times Newspaper. Many parents talked about how there kids react once they feed them with food with a lot of sugar how there are really hyper. Studies say that kids react towards this with artificial food coloring. Many scientists and physiologists aren’t sure this is the cause. Many scientists are trying to find the conclusion to this cause. Even though many parents know that there kids are always acting hyper. Scientists and even parents are trying to get to the bottom of this if artificial food coloring is one of the causes for there kids reactions. Now they are asking the FDA department to list on the products with food coloring on to say that this product contains food coloring in it. For now they are trying to test this to make sure if this is one of the causes for the reactions of there kids. Even though they found out about this causes in 1970’s after an author published a book called “Why Your Child is Hyperactive” by Dr. Ben Feingold. They tried to get to the bottom of this so parents haven’t been able to figure out.

I read an article that talked about our economy how bad it’s right now. The article is called Fear fall: Dow sinks 508 points written by Tim Paradis, an Associated Press for the Star Tribune of Minnesota on October 7, 2008. Like everyone knows already our economy is doing every poorly. Sadly the Dow Jones on Wall Street in New York City went done to eight hundred seventy-five points and are very worried how much we can take. Many people fear the economy right now with prices increasing, people losing their jobs and not being able to support their family with one week of pay check. Many residents are losing their jobs because companies are able to pay every worker. They are even losing their houses because they aren’t able to pay their house payments. People are just scared of what, may happen and trying to prepare for the worst. Many are scared of buying things and are starting to learn the value of the dollar. They haven’t experienced this since five years ago on September 30, 2008. The Stock exchange is just hoping for it not to get any worst but they won’t be sure about it. With this economy right now people are just trying to save their money, not even a bank should be trusted. For example the Washington Mutual bank is one of them they just went down so badly. Basically the point that the author is trying to prove this economy is just hurting us and there’s more to expect from it.

The school district of San Juan Capistrano banned the series of vampire books. This seemed like an interesting article by SCOTT MARTINDALE. The article is called School district briefly bans vampire books from middle schools it was posted on The Orange County Register. The book was removed only for four days. The reason they tried to ban it because they said it wasn’t appropriate for junior high school. What disturbed them was the content on the book about teenage love it was just to mature for their age. The librarians found out about this situation by e-mail to remove the books. If they decide to remove the book and in order to get these books back they need to go through a long process to see if the books will be remove or not. The book is generally about a seventeen year old girl that ends up falling in love with a vampire without her even knowing that he’s a vampire. The book has been very popular more through teenagers and has sold about then million copies. There’s also a list of books that has been trying to be remove from schools from the United States and other school districts that has been trying to remove their own individual books. The point that they are trying to do here is try to prevent from teaching this entire adult context to students. When really at a certain age like eight graders or even the first year of junior high school students already think through their actions. When they read this type of books they won’t really do this type of actions that happen in the book.
